How to organize your Coupons

Everyone asks me how I organize my coupons.  So.. here it is.

You will need:

A file box
File folders
Post it notes
Coupons !!!

On Sunday get those coupon packets out of the paper.  There are three main types of coupon packets.  Occasionally there will be a General Mills (GM) or a Target coupon packet.  Also don't forget to look for single coupons in Parade and the other TV packet.

Smart Source (SS) Sometimes there will be more than one SS.

Red Plum (RP)  Sometimes there will be more than one RP.

Proctor & Gamble (PG).  This packet only comes about once a month.

Don't forget that on holiday weekends there will be no coupon packets.

I take my coupons and write the Sunday's date that I received them on a post-it note and put them all in a file.

If you have a pile of coupons and don't know the date that you received them, there is a date on the spine of the coupon packet.  That date is the date it was delivered and the date you should put on your file post-it.

People have asked why I organize my coupons this way.  The main reason is that www.couponmom.com and most of the other coupon websites refer to coupons from this file system.  When something is on sale that matches to the coupons that I have they put it in this format.  (PG 1/29)  This means that the coupon that I am looking for is in the Proctor & Gamble coupon packet that I received on 1/29.  Happy Couponing!!
